Appearance: Etna for the most part appears to be a rather adorable short 12 or 13 year old girl with red hair, which she usually wears up in two spiky pigtails. Of course, her long prehensile tail and tiny bat wings represent the fact that she is in fact a demon who is over a thousand years old. She tends to favor skimpy outfits that leave her tail and wings free, and is never seen without her strange collar with a loop in the front that she loves to play with.
Personality: Etna on the surface is easygoing, vain, playful, sarcastic, and at times very lazy. She’s always ready to point out when someone is being stupid or untruthful, and seems to treat others as objects put there for her amusement. She’s also very stubborn, letting seemingly small incidents start large fights, particularly with her Overlord Laharl. She’s also not above manipulating Laharl’s pride or Flonne’s gullibility to get what she wants.
Underneath this exterior, however, Etna is a very complex individual. One aspect of her that many don’t realize until too late is just how devious she is. While she often makes side comments about betraying people, it’s often very hard to tell when she means it and when she’s just joking. Make an enemy of her, however, and you find out just how thoroughly she just destroyed you.
Another thing about Etna that people don’t realize is that she is capable of great compassion and empathy to those she cares about. She is extremely devoted to those who she feels are worthy, and will go to the ends of the Netherworld for them. She’s very dedicated to her promise to King Krichevskoy to protect his son, and wants to make sure Laharl is the kind of Overlord his father would be proud of. She’s also shown empathy for someone in a similar situation to her own, and sadness when Flonne was punished unfairly by the Seraph. Of course, all this is hidden behind the image of a cruel uncaring demon. She may not be as dedicated as Laharl in preserving the image of a proper demon, but like him she does have certain ideas about what a demon ‘should’ be based on her upbringing.
Abilities: Despite her appearance, Etna is a highly skilled and battle tested warrior, who has slain demons many times her own size. She prefers to fight with a spear, knife, long axe, or gun, and is quite skilled with these weapons. She retains that skill in Manhattan, although her superhuman strength and durability is significantly limited.
She also possesses impressive magical power, most of which manifests as energy attacks. However, this power has been severely weakened in Manhattan, and she can likely only manage one or two spells a day before feeling exhausted. Furthermore, the spells range and power is a fraction of what it once was. Whereas before she could likely level a building with a powerful blast, now she’d probably be able to knock down a door or maybe a wall.
She also possess the ability to fly, though again in Manhattan she can barely get a few feet off the ground, and can’t get very far at all.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider
History:
Etna was born in the Netherworld as a commoner, and spent most of her early years as the target for abuse from the many noble demons of the Netherworld, especially those in the palace of the Overlord. There were many times when Etna just felt like giving up and dying, and her only solace came in the form of a doglike demon who kept her company.
One day, however, a group of demonic nobles murdered her pet. She almost lost all hope there, when the Overlord King Krichevskoy came upon her and reached out his hand. He helped her bury the pet, and insisted all demons deserved respect regardless of their status. She became deeply devoted to the Overlord, and served as his loyal servant for many years. Then, one day, the Overlord fell in love with a human woman and made her his queen. Etna admitted to hating the Queen, because Etna felt she was taking the King somewhere she could not follow. When Laharl was born, Etna felt even more confused, since he was the King’s son, who she cared for, but also further proof that King Krichevskoy was out of her reach.
Before Etna could sort out her feelings, though, the Queen gave her life for Laharl. Etna continued to serve the King until the fateful day when he went out to face an invading Overlord from another dimension. When he returned he was badly weakened, and Etna wanted to sacrifice her life to save him like the Queen had done for Laharl. Instead, the King made her promise to protect his son and help him become a worthy Overlord. Soon after, the king died.
Etna tried to keep to her promise, but shortly after Krichevskoy’s death a demon named Maderas stole Etna’s memories, and blackmailed her into assassinating Laharl, otherwise he would destroy them. She couldn’t quite go through with it, instead poisoning Laharl so he ended up in a two year coma, and she began plotting to use him to get her memories back.
After two years Laharl woke up and began his quest to become Overlord, accompanied by Etna and an Angel Trainee named Flonne who had been sent to assassinate his father. Over the course of their adventure, they confront Maderas, and Etna is able to manipulate events to the point where he is left begging her for mercy and returns her memories. Etna fully expected to be punished for her betrayal, but Laharl surprised her by largely forgiving her and making Etna his right hand vassal.
Shortly after, Laharl succeeds on becoming Overlord, and Etna took it upon herself to give him a test to show him the importance of looking after the needs of all his vassals. Eventually the trio succeeded in fighting off a massive invasion from Earth and unveiled a conspiracy by a rogue angel to take over all three worlds. Etna was willing to follow Flonne into Celestia to investigate what was going on, and expressed deep sorrow when she was punished unfairly by the authorities there. Luckily, Laharl’s willingness to sacrifice everything for her convinced the Seraph to rescind his decision and send her to live in the Netherworld with Etna and Laharl.
Shortly after, however, Etna found herself very far from home, in the city of Manhattan…
